3. BS EN 315: 2000- Plywood. Tolerances and dimensions

(Has superseded clauses 1 and 2 of BS 6566: Part 4: 1985 - Specification for tolerances on the dimension of plywood panels)

This standard specifies dimensional tolerances of plywood panels (length, width, thickness) and tolerances for squareness and edge straightness at a moisture control of 10% (± 2%).

Methods for measuring the thickness, width and length of a panel are given in BS EN 324 Wood-based panels - Determination of dimensions of boards: Part 1 - Determination of thickness, width and length. Values are given for both the thickness tolerances for sanded and unsanded panels. This covers variations within one panel and those occurring between panels.

Methods for measuring the squareness of a panel and the straightness of its edges are given in BS EN 324 Wood-based panels - Determination of dimensions of boards Part 2 - Determination of squareness and edge straightness.

To ascertain the moisture content of a panel refer to BS EN 322 Wood-based panels - Determination of moisture content.
