Load Span Tables & Joist Designation
for PRI-400 I-Joists
General Domestic Flooring and Floating Floor
Span Table 2 covers the same general domestic floor construction
given in Span Table 1 except that an allowance has been made
for floating sound insulation floors up to 88 kg/m2 .
To illustrate the selection of an APA PRI product, assume
a design for a 0.9 kN/m2 dead load and a single
span of 4.7m. Further assume the joist depth is limited to
302 mm or less and a joist spacing to 400 mm on centre or
less. In the table below, look down the 400 mm on centre spacing
column. For depths of 241 mm (9-1/2"), select 9-1/2"PRI-60.
As an alternative, from the 302 mm (11-7/8") depth notice
that any joist designation will work.
The spans shown in this table are based on repetitive member
usage. Use of this table is limited to uniform load conditions
with a deflection limit of L/480 of the span.
APA PRI’s can be used for other applications when properly
engineered using the appropriate design properties - see Table
4 in Form No. EXP A725 UK Issued October 2000 - APA Performance
Rated I-Joists for United Kingdom.
